No that's not a typo on the title. He actually sounds like that lol I do a pretty mean Governor Swartzenegger impression lol :D
Well, I'm back from surgery. not one week into my recovery, and I was scratching away into my sketchbook, seeing if I suffered any memory loss and lost my ability to draw. Thankfully, there was no loss in any of that department. I even rememebred the last bit of Front torso anatomy I was trying to memorize before my surgery :) Deltoids, obliques, abdominal from sternum to pelvic region, all that good stuff! LOL! Yatta yatta yatta so on and so forth I remembered it :) So it's full steam ahead baby! :D
Well,, not FULL steam unfortunatly. I can't ink right now. My body is still shakey from my Dystonia ( left drawing hand still shakes from involuntary muscle movements) Shakdey hands is a major nono for inkers. In the past, Ive tried to compensate with quick ink strokes, but that doesn't work. One of my mentors told me my ink strokes were too short. He caught me. lol He found the flaw I've been trying to cover up for the past 2 and a half years. I'm totally incabable of drawing a long straight line without my hand shaking and going all over the place.
Good news is, I get activated tomorrow morning at 8 oclock! :D Well I have to be at Emory hospital by 8. I'm sure I have to sit in a waiting room. Hopefully it won't take too long. I have a follow up appointment on the 28th of this month too, to see if there's any progress. So I have my both my fingers and even my toes crossed! LOL!
One thing Steven did tell me, was I can take this time to sketch new pages. He also explained to me better about drawing to the bleed section. He gave me a cool comic page he did for Udon with C. Viper on it. Too bad I lost it before I left from his table! LOL! Damn it was so cool too. Well, I still got what he explained, so I've kept the bleed in mind as I sketch the remaining 5 pages for Session 5. WHICH IS ALSO THE END OF VOLUME ONE BABYYYY!!! :D *High fives all around*
I'm going to call it Chamber One. What can I say, I'm a Wu Tang Clan fan :) Maybe I can join their crew! LOL! jk man :) I used to MC actually, but priorities change man. I more passionate about my art than I am aobut MCing. I shouldn't let the world that dwelling inside my brain goto waste. I need to draw it all out for the world to see. Some of the things in my head are sad, some of the things are energetic and I feel can inspire feelings inside the viewers. I want my work to do that.
Here's what I have so far on Eternal:
I feel this piece:

reflects the mental termoil in all of us. And what hope lies in those that want to love us no matter what. I felt sadness, and as i finished it, I felt hope. I want to be able to move people and stir emotion. Even in my manga, I want to excite the reader. To make them laugh. To connect with my characters and feel bad for them. To cheer when they triumph.

There are people that judge if they will read a manga based on if it looks like manga. The question they are asking is wrong. I'm not out to look like anyone else. And if they believe that a nationality should dictate what you can and cannot work on, then obviously they aren't true Otaku. An Otaku a Japanese word meaning fanatic. Steven told me of this word. It isn't just limited to Asian Culture. There are many types of Otaku. So for the sake of being specific and correct, they are not true Japanese culture Otaku. If they were, then they would konw, that the Japanese are actually EMBRACING different looks in manga. Case in point, Felipe Smith! He's a Latin american. He craated MBQ for Tokyopop. He went through 3 Volumes of MBQ, then left Tokyopop. Guess why. He was offered work at Kodansha. A Japanese manga company. Felipe's manga style was different and outragious. It made a statement and seperated him froom other American Manga artists. This is why he stood out, and was noticed by a Japanese manga company.
Another question I get from people about Eternal. Why don't you submit to companies already? Well, two reasons.
1. I'd have to remake the entire Chapters 1 and 2, which I have to say, suck compared to now. Well, not outright suck, I can do better now. Let's just say that lol
2. Due dates.
Their going to be looking over my shoulder day in and day out lol Asking me over and over and over, Is it done, when will you be done,, your not drawing fasgt enough, DRAW FASTER! DANCE PUPPET DANCE! LOL! ( ok that last part I was just having some fun. No offense companies. I looovee yooou lol ;))
Oh and let's not forget, they will make me change things. And I don't mean artwise to bring up my quality ( I wouldn't mind that at all) It's my storyline. I have alot of shocking moments and alot of things that give Eternal it's own special flavor. It's my baby. Don't fuck with my baby man LOL! Seriously. not coool man.
Well, that's all for now. Just letting people know I'm ok. what's up with Eternal, what's up with my CG's all that good stuff :)
I'm outtie 5 thousand man. Peace! :D-GIO
I like it!! Sorry Gio for the delay but as always I've been busy. I like it the only thing is it took me a sec to figure out the basic anatomy of the creature. Try and figure out a humanoid pose for her first, I think this will better to visualize for most of us. Also the smaller piece on photobucket is quite cool I think you should post that one up bigger. That one has a better definition of the characters and is visually more appealing. Ifeel it too! Dude great job! I will be on soon again! Hope all is well keep up the posts coming Bro!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by bro! :D Always good to hear from you ya know? :) Yeah, I do have a habit of exaggerating my poses alittle. I'm a big fan of Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun and Trigun: Maximum series :) He's got alot of exaggeration and stylized poses in his manga. That's where I get alot of ideas for fighting poses in Eternal Session 5 :) Also I'm a Sin City fan :) Sam Kieth is the shit too lol :) I like his mood he puts into his comic The Maxx. Nice, dark and twisted :) ( Badguys on the Zombie Juice in Eternal lol :) I'll be sure to put up my final finished pages of Etenal here, as well as some previews of exclusive CG only available in the printed version :) Maybe you could give me some advice on those in the early stages :) You know me, don't mind critiques on a sketch lol :) Easier to fix. :D
